A blog about My Life and Menswear

Springtime Noir

Happy Hump day Ladies and Gents! Its been a while since I posted on the blog and for those of you that have been kind enough to follow I apologize! The last couple of weeks have been hectic for me I recently got a promotion at work and have been working non stop to catch up. It hasn’t all been work tho, I just got back from vacation which is where I got my tan not that I’ve ever needed one but whatever!

Before my vacation I did some shopping with the intent of getting some beach stuff for the trip but I ended up buying a leather jacket and a couple tank tops. Recently Ive been in a monochromatic mood specifically with darker shades. I try to keep up with the seasons and use the colors and prints that are traditional to each season but I also like mixing things up. Black on black is a definite go to no matter what season you’re in. I decided to break the full monochrome and add a little spring with the floral Superman Tank which is pretty sweet I might add!  Heres what I’m Wearing:

Jacket:Urban Outfitters| Tank Top:Hot Topic| Chinos:Cotton On| Shoes: TOMS| Sunglasses: Ray-Ban.

Lidic Limestone

Wuts up Ladies and Gents! I decided to take a little road trip to Homestead with my girlfriend and sister and check out the Coral Castle. I’m a big science fiction guy and had been wanting to make the short trip to check it out.

For those of you that don’t know, the Coral Castle was made by one little 5’0 man named Edward Leeskalnin. He was able to do it all with no construction equipment and a 4th grade education! The Castle was homage to Ed’s love Agnes Scuffs who broke his heart and left him a day before their wedding. The castle comes complete with rocking chairs, tables, beds, a sundial that tells the time and what month it is, a telescope carved into rock that allows you to see the North Star, a well and a bath tub all made out of stone! Over the years, myths have sprung up saying Ed was helped by aliens or that he figured out a way to unlock gravity thus making the objects lighter. Truth is it took him 28 years to carve out the Lidic Limestone Coral rock and move the parts into place, great things take time.  (click here for website)

I always try to have one part of my outfit that really stands out, for todays outfit that would be the hat. As an ex ball player that has worn hats for as long as I can remember, I never get tired of a good-looking cap. I’ve been wanting to incorporate more spring/summer colors to my outfits. The hat paired with this washed denim button up and some white shorts and sneakers hit the mark! Here’s what I’m wearing:

Hat: Forever 21| Shirt: Cotton On| Shorts: Thrifted| Shoes: Jack Purcell|

Wuts up Ladies and Gents! You guys may or may not have noticed that I love denim and as hard as I may try to stay away from it the denim gods keep drawing me in. The sleeveless denim jacket is a perfect wardrobe piece for the spring. The lack of sleeves makes it comfortable to wear even as the temperatures climb and it adds a little character and ruggedness to a simple outfit you might be seeing this look several times this spring fair warning! I paired the denim vest with a simple white oxford collar button down, some red chinos and blue wingtips (note the red laces, devil is in the details people!) Heres what I’m wearing:

Denim Vest: Levis| Shirt: Ralph Lauren| Chinos: Zara Men| Shoes: Just A Men Shoe

This is Linen season

Spring is here Gentlemen! And it’s brought along with it humidity and blazing sunrays. Enter linen and light colors. Linen is a well-dressed gents best friend if you live in Miami and especially this time of the year when the humidity is really starting to kick everyone’s ass. Is it weird that most people up north would kill to live somewhere where the temperature is hot for most of the year and I’m here wishing it would drop so I can layer up?

I’m a little different than most menswear bloggers and men in the fashion game for the simple reason that I don’t have a thin frame. I’m a 215-pound ex college athlete with broad shoulders, which is why unconstructed blazers fit me well. I don’t need the extra padding that comes with some jackets and the lack of internal structure makes it more breathable and helps me stay cool. (Click here for a more details). I paired the jacket with a light blue Ralph Lauren oxford button down and a vintage Brooks Brothers tie (thrifted for three bucks!). The trousers are Ralph Lauren Denim Supply and the shoes are Cole Haan Wingtips.

I’ve always had a fascination for graffiti/ street art I think it’s mainly because I can’t draw or paint for shit and I’ve always wished I could. Its probably why I’m so drawn to Wynwood (drawn, get it?!). I took another trip to the Art District but this time I checked out the abandoned RC…

Best outfit yet.

Thanks Jacqueline! jvaldes20

Its probably why I’m so drawn to Wynwood (drawn, get it?!). I took another trip to the Art District but this time I checked out the abandoned RC Cola plant.

The abandoned building with its graffiti covered walls has an eerie feeling to it. Its so massive and its located at the end of the street next to the highway there wasn’t a singe person there it felt like something straight out of the Walking dead!

Simple but significant is how I would describe the outfit of the day.  I’ve been going hard on the spring/ summer colors. I decided to go with a darker tone for the day and channel my inner artist. Here’s what I’m Wearing: I paired this awesome printed 3/4 tee with some black chinos and my favorite black leather boots.

T-Shirt: Cotton On | Chinos: Cotton On | Boots: John Varvatos

Happy Hump Day Ladies and Gents! The weather is starting to heat up in Miami, but its an absolutely beautiful day. The sun is shining bright and the skies are as blue as can be. I decided to head to Brickell and take some outfit pictures. I really like the big city feel that it has, reminds me of…

Wynwood Wednesday

Happy Wynwood Wednesday ladies and gentlemen! I spent the day in my favorite part of Miami (Wynwood) with my two favorite girls: my photographer aka my sister and girlfriend. Got a quick bite and a cold beverage at Kush Wynwood, then we were off to look for a cool location to take the days outfit…

With the temperatures rising in Miami, it’s hard not to wear a T-shirt and shorts and call it a day. But that would be easy and boring and that’s NOT what I’m about. Sometimes you need to sacrifice comfort for style. I wanted to wear something that looks good and fits the hot climate look. To get that look I paired a white V-neck with a blue light blazer; I simply rolled the jacket sleeves as well as the jeans. Fellas don’t be afraid to show a little ankle, it’s 2014. I don’t want to hear the high-water jokes.

Heres what I’m wearing:

Shirt- Polo Ralph Lauren | Jacket- Maison Martin Margiela by H&M | Jeans- American Eagle | Shoes- Cole Haan | Glasses- Prada |Watch- Armani Exchangeimage
